Different River Sports

A lot of people love to get in the water and explore new waterways. For many, they enjoy the calm and tranquility of kayaking and canoeing. Others like to try more challenging and thrilling waters with whitewater rafting or wakeboarding. If you’re looking for something to do with friends and family, these water sports are perfect.

Kayaking and Canoeing

A paddle allows you to kayak or canoe through quiet lakes, crystal clear rivers, and even up and down mountains. It’s a relaxing way to see the world from a different perspective and is a wonderful way to experience nature up close.

It also offers a great workout that can be a good stress-reliever and a great way to bond with your family and friends. If you’re looking for a team activity, try team kayaking and canoeing.

Fishing

If you’re looking for a relaxing but still a great way to enjoy the water, fishing is a great choice. It is much more relaxed than some of the other water sports and it can be a fun way to get out and exercise in the summer.

Standup Paddleboarding

One of the most popular ways to enjoy the water, standup paddleboarding is similar to surfing on a board that’s towed by a boat. This sport has become increasingly popular over the last decade.

Parasailing

Another thrill-filled water sport, parasailing is a fun way to experience the world from above while being towed by a boat.

In this sport, you are towed behind a boat on a specially designed board that has fins and weights to keep you stable while the water is moving. It is a lot of fun to try out but it is best to go with a qualified professional as you need to know how to steer and stay safe.

Whitewater Rafting

The thrill of rafting through rivers is a must-have for any water lover. It is a great way to experience the thrill of whitewater with a group and see some incredible landscapes along the way.

There are many different types of rafts to choose from including motor rafts, paddle rafts and a hybrid of the two. These rafts can seat from three to nine people.

Whitewater rafting is an extremely challenging sport that takes place in very fast, unpredictable currents and rapids that can pose a high risk to paddlers. There are multiple levels of difficulty, from a simple Class III rapid to a dangerous Class VI rapid.

These extreme rapids can be very scary and require advanced scouting, rescue training and knowledge of the local area to run safely.

They can also be dangerous if the river is crowded or there are strong currents. Some rivers have strict regulations that limit the number of rafts allowed on certain days or at specific times.

While running the store, Cassin and Kolby tried to make it a place where people felt welcome. They were very friendly and approachable, and they knew a lot about all of the gear Idaho River Sports sold.
